In the framework of the Mediterranean Operational Oceanography Network (MOON), the University of Athens Ocean Physics and Modelling (OPAM) group provides operational forecasting products in:
The ALERMO (Aegean Levantine Eddy Resolving Model) model with now running on 1o/30 and 1o/50 horizontal resolution was developed within the framework MFSTEP (Mediterranean Forecasting System - Towards Environmental Predictions). The system provides daily 5-days forecast of the ocean characteristics and circulation in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea. ALERMO is one-way nested to a Mediterranean OGCM (1o/16 horizontal resolution). The modelling system is based on the Princeton Ocean Model (POM) and forced by 1o/20 SKIRON atmospheric system. Coastal and shelf foreacsting systems, also developed under MFSTEP, are nested in ALERMO forecasting system.
Forecast is available at http://www.oc.phys.uoa.gr
A very high-resolution forecasting model with a 1o/60 of horizontal resolution was developed in the North Aegean region, by the University of Athens OPAM group, one-way nested to ALERMO (1o/30) running operationally on a daily basis, providing 4-days forecast of the ocean circulation. It is based on the Princeton Ocean Model (POM) and forced by 1o/10 SKIRON atmospheric system.
The North Aegean Forecasting system is coupled with DIAVLOS Oil-spill forecasting tool (http://diavlos.oc.phys.uoa.gr).

Temperature, Salinity, Currents, Sea level are the prognostic variables derived by the ALERMO (Aegean-Levantine) region.
The forecasting fields are available in binary and NetCDF formats.
Temperature, Salinity, Currents, Sea level at the ALERMO (Aegean-Levantine) region at specific depths (5m, 30m, 120m and 360m) are available at http://www.oc.phys.uoa.gr as images.
The ALERMO forecasting fields are available to partners (under Data Exchane Agreement) at an FTP site.
