This wiki allows the creation of a portal for the Educational material for existing operational oceanographic products and services, each person responsible is in charge of editing his or her area-specific page.
The portal structure has already been created and organized into macro-areas. Starting from the starting page it is possible to select your area edit or create your page.
Every page inside this wiki is linked through a red or a green link. The red link means that the page is still empty, whilst the green link indicates that the page already has some content.
As has already been mentioned, this wiki is organized into areas, and each area has had a person responsible assigned it. If you are the person responsible for an area, you are in charge of editing/creating the page in question. To start editing the page, just click on the page link, log in and click on the edit this page button. As you will see, the template for the page has already been written according to the agreed templates (mod, obs): all that you have to do is fill the page with the data and click Save.
When you enter the editing interface of your page you will be able to insert text inside a text box and to choose the formatting options for your text using the buttons listed above the text box. Please remember that the structure should be the same for each page so please apply modification to the structure only if actually needed. Below the text box you will find the buttons to:
Save: save all the modification and go back to the start page,Preview: view what your page will look likeCancel: undo all the modification you have just made.
Every time you save the page a new version will be created and the modifications will be stored. You will be able to see previous versions by clicking on the button Old revisions.
The edit summary text field allows you to insert a comment to the changes you have just made to the page. This comment will appear in the Old revisions page and should make it easier to understand which modifications have been made in that version.
You can upload files from your computer by clicking on the button
. A pop-up window will then appear allowing you to choose a file from your computer. Choose the file you want to upload and then click on the upload button. After the file appears in the window, you can insert it into your page by clicking on it. The same procedure can be used to upload images that will be rendered inside your page. Very Important: in order to resize the image to fit the page you have to insert code inside the generated link as may be seen here.
Links can be added by using these two buttons
: the first should be used to create an internal link (= a link to a page inside this wiki); the second to create an external link (= a link to a web page from the Internet). In both cases the default name for the link will be equal to the address. If desired, it is possible to specify a name for the link by adding to the link code a pipe followed by the name you want to set.
